Dialogue

The drunken middle brother of three came speeding in the driveway, slamming on the breaks. He flung open the door screaming up a storm. The youngest brother and his mother are sitting on the couch watching a movie.
The mother jumped up worried and said what in the heck are you doing?
The middle one yelled back I hate that little shit!
The young one yelled back what in the heck did I do now?
He said you called the cops?
Nope I didn’t!
Well then why are they here?
Because you are wasted and driving your car!
The mother started yelling and crying at the middle brother for driving drunk.
The cops started knocking at the door. Which the young brother answered.
The cops said I’m looking for the owner of this black car that’s parked in the driveway.
The middle brother stumbled to the door and said I own that car is there a problem?
The cop replied yes you are under arrest for driving under the influence.
The mother screamed with tears running down her face. You can’t take my son!
The cop replied that we have too! He hit a car and took off! The cops left with the middle son and he was charge with hit and run!
The youngest brother said mom it’s probably better that he’s with them because he was going to kill himself or someone else.
The mother replied you’re probably right.

I saw the minds of my generation being brainwashed by teachers, professors, and bias media,

Who expect everything to be handed to them from some government social program, feeling entitled to anything and everything,

Who have no idea of the meaning of hard work, thanks to pathetic parenting,

I saw the minds of my generation intrigued with their iphones, designer clothes, and “nice rides,” (all charged to mommy and daddy’s credit card.)

Who don’t think deeply about anything, afraid to stand for anything for fear of offending someone else.

Who sit and watch as our country continues to be buried in debt.

I witnessed the minds of my generation forget what our country was founded on, forget about morals, forget about standards, and forget what is important.

Sestina

Words can’t describe the pain
I couldn’t speak for days
It all happened so quickly
And there was no one to blame
I was only a boy
Not ready for real life

Now it would be a different life
But it would not stop the pain
Where was that boy
I counted the days
Was God to blame
If only I could escape quickly

People found out quickly
They tried to help our life
And explained that fate was to blame
I tried to hide the pain
It all dragged on for days
I wouldn’t wish that on any boy

What would you expect from a boy
With a world that changed to quickly
Things got better after many days
I question everything in life
And watched my brothers evade the pain
They thought they were to blame

I’m not sure why they took the blame
Surly no one could fault a boy
Still no one understood such pain
It was my mother that stood strong so quickly
My example of how to live my life
She was there through all the days

It seems so long since those days
I finally see no one is to blame
I can handle this life
No longer a boy
I grew so quickly
Accepting the pain

My days progress with only periodic pain
Forgiveness overpowered blame but not quickly
Life and death something I learned as a boy
